Sara Evans Bio

Sara Lynn Evans was born in Boonville Missouri on February 5, 1971. She was raised on a farm along with six siblings. The extended family of her parents formed a group and she was appointed the singer in charge. At the age of 8 tragedy struck and she made the decision to become an artist. After a car accident Evans was forced to use a wheelchair to sing in order to pay for her medical bills. Evans began singing in nightclubs in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 16. Evans moved to Nashville, Tennessee when she was 20 with the hope of becoming a bigger musician. The opportunity came when she was introduced to fellow musicianCraig SchelskeShe later married Schelske in 1993. After a short time in Oregon, Evans & Schelske returned to Nashville and began recording demos. One of the demos, called "Tiger by the Tail" led to her signing an agreement with the RCA Nashville.She launched her debut album "Three Chords and the Truth" under the label, and garnered interest from Billboard, CMT and MVPA. But it was not until her second album "No Place That Far" that came out in 1998, that she gained wider popularity. One of the tracks, "No Place That Far" was a duet performed by Vince Gill that reached No. It was ranked No. 1. on the Country charts, and was also included in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40.
