Watts, born 28 September 1968 is an British actress from the UK. After her
family moved to Australia, she made her film debut there with the film For Love
Alone (1986) and then appeared in three television series, Hey Dad.. (1990),
Brides of Christ (1991), as well as Home and Away (1991) as well as the feature
film Flirting (1991). Watts came to America in the year 2000. She was initially
struggling as an actress. In reality she was able to take minor roles in films
prior to becoming an actress of the future in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive
psychological thriller. Her rise to global fame was brought about by this role.
Watts was later chosen to play a journalist who was tortured in The Ring
(2002). As a character in the film, she played a grieving mother , in the
Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best
Actress. Her star power was growing when she appeared in I Heart Huckabees
(2004). King Kong (2006), Eastern Promises ((2007)) and The International
(2009). Watts was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actress for her role
in The Impossible (2012). In the 2010s, Watts starred in films like Birdman
(2014) St. Vincent (2014) St. Vincent (2015), While We're Young (2016), The
Glass Castle (2017) and Luce (2018). Watts also continued to play in
blockbusters, and made appearances in the Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
