ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her and her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan was a multi-sport athlete throughout her youth, but did not favor soccer until she reached 14. After high school, she joined Cypress Elite's club team. They took home the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and came in third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to hone her skills in soccer in Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) chose her as an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer from the beginning of her season. The team was able to reach the NCAA Tournament in four years, and the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award and the first player from her school to rank among the top Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan completed her studies at Berkeley in the first semester of 2010 and was ranked 3rd among all-time scoring goals, points and assists. Morgan was able to maintain soccer careers at both the college and national levels during her time at Berkeley. Morgan suffered an injury to her ACL during her first year at Berkeley. It prevented her from taking part in U.S. women's under-20 soccer until April of 2008. In Mexico, Morgan scored her debut international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The team was awarded gold and she scored her first international goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Tournament in Mexico. One of these was the win goal in the match against Italy that helped earn the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team , and he was instrumental in leading it to victory against France. Morgan, despite the U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score both either a goal or assist.
