Tina Louise Early, and her private life

Tina Louise (nee Blacker, February 11, 1934) was an American actress from the United States. She is most well-known for her character Ginger Grant, a movie actor who appeared on CBS's situation comedy Gilligan's Island. Her stage career started in the mid-1950s. The actress was later chosen to play God's Little Acre, a 1957 drama film. In this role, she was awarded the Golden Globe Award as New Star of the year. Louise played the lead role in The Trap and Day of the Outlaw. She also was a participant in The Wrecking Crew and The Happy Ending (1975). Louise was the only original Gilligan's Island's television series following Dawn Wells' death in 2020. Louise was born Tina Blacker to a New York City Jewish family. The couple separated when she was just four years old. The mother of Tina, Sylvia Horn (nee Myers), who was a fashion model was her mother. She raised her as an sole child. Tina's father was Joseph Blacker, a Brooklyn candy shop owner, and later an accountant, was Tina. Louise was said to be added to her name in her senior year in high school. She had told her drama teacher that she wasn't the only student in the class with a middle name and she suggested that she use it. After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Miami University in Ohio. Louise lives in New York City. She is a life-long member of Actors Studio and an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences member. Louise is a fervent advocate for literacy in children. In 2007, she gave away some of her book, When I Grow Up. In an interview in 2013 she had been involved in volunteering at schools since 1996. She has written three books: Sunday: A Memoir (1997) and When I Grow Up (2007).
